Dr. Melissa H. Hoff grew up in Eastern North Carolina and obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina Greensboro in 1998. After graduating college, she became a microbiologist for chemical companies located in Greensboro and St. Paul, Minnesota. Dr. Hoff received her dental education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry, where she graduated with honors in 2005. During her time at UNC, Dr. Hoff was involved in numerous community service projects and received the Robert Bryan Fellowship Grant to fund a project aimed to educate preschoolers and their parents about proper oral health care. Dr. Hoff spent her summers doing community service rotations at Blue Ridge Community Health Center in Hendersonville, Caswell Center in Kinston, Charity Hospital in New Orleans and Silver Avenue Community Clinic in San Francisco.

Dr. Hoff is a member of the ADA, the North Carolina Dental Society and the Wilmington Tri-County Dental Society. She serves as a committee member for the New Dentists Committee of the NC Dental Society and is a former President of the Wilmington Tri-County Dental Society.
